Melissa Kurzdorfer, a senior at Lancaster HS in Section 6, broke the NY State record in the shot put when she unleashed a 48-10 toss. Her toss was also good for a new US#1 performance.
Kurzdorfer now owns every class record in NY State. She set the 7th grade NY State record in 2005 when she threw 37-03.75 and has continued each season with another class record. Clearly she is is best thrower to ever come out of NY State.
Kurzdorfer broke the indoor state record of 48-03 set by Staecy Schroeder of Grand Island February 2nd, 1992 in Ontario, Can.
Next up for Kurzdorfer will be trying to break the outdoor state record of 49-08.5 set by Cheryl Klein of Bellport in 1984.
