Summary: Saratoga surged to the top of the national rankings with a perfect 15 score in the nation's toughest section at Suburban Council. Although the other top six teams were running a ways behind their usual level, nothing more needs to be said about where Blue Streaks stand right now. One of the Saratoga runners will claim the win, and junior frontrunner Emily Bush is the top returner from last year off of a 2nd place in 2021, but Sheridan Wheeler is a senior. Bethlehem's Rylee Davis has the best shot at breaking in on a repeat S2-A perfect 15 for Saratoga.
Class B | |||
Position | Team | TR | Top Runners |
1 | Burnt Hills | 97.0 | Paolino, Cyr, Greer, Casey, Heiner, Bohall, Malizia |
2 | Scotia-Glenville | 91.4 | McIntosh, James, Wells, Long, Allen, Miller |
3 | Mohonasen | 86.0 | Miller, A. Marriner, E. Marriner, Smith,Thayer |
4 | Queensbury | 85.6 | Powers, Habshi, Janssen, Purvis, Powell, G.Powers |
5 | Averill Park | 71.2 | Barsalow, Ruppe, Mazzacco, Kelly, Dupuis |
Summary: The status of the top five teams is a little fuzzy since none were running in recent weeks at the levels they demonstrated at Burnt Hills and other earlier big meets. Assuming that the S2-B race will see all the teams at their best and a few recently missing runners return to action, it looks like reigning champ Burnt Hills will be the victor, but not by last year's 40 point margin, and the race could be very close. Mohonasen's Rachel Miller and Burnt Hills' Mia Paolina went 1-2 last year and Queensbury's Maddie Powers was 4th, and the trio are likely to be battling it out again this year with maybe Averill Park's Logan Barsalow joining in.
Class C | |||
Position | Team | TR | Top Runners |
1 | Schuylerville | 70.0 | Vianese, Ballou, Stark, Yonkin, Nebitt |
2 | Broadalbin-Perth | 43.4 | E. Frasier, L. Frasier, Lin, Murphy, Syzdek |
3 | Schalmont | 42.4 | Carter, Stubbs, Tuttle, Lansing, Middelkoop |
Summary: 2021 S2-C champ Voorheesville is down in Class D, which opens up a place for Schuylerville to shine. The Horses finished 3rd in the Foothills Council meet and should win S2-C easily this year. Albany Academy's Erin Boler won at Colonial Council and should capture top place in S2-C this year after finishing runner-up to Voorheesville's Miriam Sayahi in 2021.
