Girls Eastern State Championships - Individuals
Recap: It could have been a closer race, but nothing beats experience. Baloga was one of four girls who have been at or over a 150 Speed Rating, but she was the only girl in the field to have raced this course four times, having won all of those races, the latter two being the Eastern States Championship. Baloga pulled away early, while the field hoped to reel her back in. Her time now ties her as the 5th fastest performer in meet history, matching that of the long-time course record set by Carly Seymour in 2007. It also ties her as the 6th fastest performance, as Tuohy twice dipped under 13:35.
Behind Baloga, Macchia showed why she placed Top 10 at EastBay last year, as she pulled ahead of those who maintained a strong pace throughout. Kate Putman rounds out a NY trio that is very nationally competitive.
