Summary: Although at the beginning of the season this looked to be mainly a heated contest between North Rockland and Ursuline, recent developments have pushed Suffern to the top with a fast-charging compact group (0.57 split at Rockland). On paper, both North Rockland and Ursuline have just too much distance between the top and 5th spot to beat the Mounties. However, what swings this is the potential return of key runners for North Rockland. There was an eight-point differential at Rockland County, but this is Sectionals, a single-elimination meet. Unless an injury was season-ending, we have to assume a return here. That changes the race, but is far from a guarantee. Suffern's tight pack is still their biggest benefit, and not only do North Rockland's runners have to return, but they also have to return at full form.
Consider this a coin-toss.
On the individual front, Westchester champ Sydney Leitner of Yorktown and Ursuline's Daphne Banino will have another go of it, and it should be a good one.
