Summary: Though S1-A could be seen as a toss-up this year and we could just let it sit on the highest speed rating, there are a few factors here that make the third-rated team Arlington the pick. The main one is the tighter 1-5 split, as Mamroneck's fifth spot just appears to be too far back in a race with a lot of teams, and Fox Lane also has a concern there unless some late developments point elsewhere. The other key factor here is the "A funny thing happened on the way to S1-A Sectionals" phenomenon where an Arlington guys' team that appears to camp out at Bowdoin for much of the time has owned the course in early November for so many recent years.

Summary: The Section 1 guys are making it very hard to anoint favorites this year, and S1-B as is often is the case is a wild one. Any of the six teams listed here could win the title with a good day and some inspired performances at the back. The 1-5 spread for Somers was about 1:30 at Westchester while for Tappan Zee it was at 1:12 at Rockland. Hard to know if that will be the decider here, but we'll go with the little bit more compact team, TZ in a battle of evenly matched teams.
Editors Note: This one is a nail-biter. Remove all other teams from Westchester Co Meet but Class B, and then it's Pelham 74, Somers 79. Add in Tappan Zee based on Rockland, and they are the clear winner with 53. Pelham ran without their #3 at Westchester. Add him back in, and it gets them within striking distance. But people are typically held out for a reason. For that, we're sticking with our original projection.
