Class L's Top Teams
New Cannan will be battling for a conference title among the larger LL schools in the FCIAC this year. The Rams have their top six back including Skylar Bennett and Riley Shipman at the top with Abigail Cheney, Elizabeth McLaughlin, Kiera Hynes, and Lauren Doherty who on a good day can form a very tight pack. Darien will also be heavily in the mix in the FCIAC led by seniors Mairead Clas and Julianne Teitler on a team that returns everybody. Still another team from the conference Wilton gets a big boost at the top by having last year's FCIAC Central race winner Emily Mrakovcic leading the team in her senior season.
Two other conference group winners from last year figure to be strongly in the chase for the Class L title. CCC-A winner outran the 2019 Open champ Hall to take the title led by Olivia Birney who captured a double title at the Open in June. Over in the SWC, Claire Daniels led New Milford to a close win over New Fairfield last year, and the Green Wave has four of the top five back from last year's race along with star distance runner Madelaine Sweeney.
