A Brief Look At Every New York Sub-4 Miler Ever

Despite the pandemic, despite it being December, New York saw it's latest addition to the Sub-4 Miler List in the month of December. Not only was it the only December Sub-4 Mile on our list, it was the first ever Outdoor Sub-4 Mile in US History for the month of December.

The mark was achieved by Victor Palumbo, formerly of Eastchester High School, who will be competing in this weekend's New Balance Indoor Grand Prix on Staten Island. A 2011 High School graduate, he headed to Hofstra University with a 4:20.86 personal best, as well as a 9:09.47 for the 3200m. He finished second at the Section 1 State Qualifier his Spring of Senior Year in both events, opting to contest the 3200m, where he finished 27th.

At Hofstra, Palumbo had gotten his Indoor down to 4:02, while also regularly competing on their squads 4x400m Relay. After graduation, Palumbo moved on to the Central Park Track Club.

Note:

After careful research, we believe this list to be 95% complete.  If you note an athlete we left off, please reach out and let us know at kbrazeil@milesplit.com.
