Boys Race So Far
For the first time ever, the reigning New York Cross Regional Champion will face off against the two Top Returners from Foot Locker Northeast. Peyton Geehrer (FM) has been undefeated this season, winning each of his local races by 45seconds or more. He captured the Regional title in 2019, and was set to be the Manhattan Invitational Top Returner as well. One state over, Gavin Sherry and Aidan Puffer have highlighted the Nutmeg State ever since they were freshman. Making a splash by qualifying for Foot Locker as sophomores, they've taken to the track in the absence of major Cross Country Invites this year. Sherry is coming off a very quick 3000 meter race at Icahn Stadium, where he came back and ran just four seconds off Puffer's win in the 5000 meter as well. Both are set to take the stage in Middletown.
On the team side, you have NY #1 Saranac Lake facing off against NY #2 Fordham Prep and NY #4 Liverpool. Saranac has been racing dual meet's up North, but will need to return to the form of the year prior to hold off Fordham, who will be running with a squad +1 fresh off a hard fought battle at the CHSAA Intersectionals this weekend. NY #2 Ridge HS will also be entered, looking to take over from the Empire State, while CT is sending some of their best as well. More are expected to enter, with PA teams set to make a splash.
