Continuing her campaign on the Track this Fall, Brooke Rauber (Tully) traveled to Ocean City, NJ to take another shot at the Senior State Record for the 5K. While that mark may not have came, Rauber still clocked a new Personal Best of 16:28.34 for the distance.
The race location was concealed at first, to prevent spectators, but was live streamed by NY Alum Chris Chavez (Xavier HS) in conjunction with Citius Mag (watch above). The clocking improves Rauber's own Section 3 Record for the event, run two weeks prior, also in New Jersey. Rauber led a chase pack that included 2018 Foot Locker Champ Sydney Masciarelli (Marianapolis Prep, CT), who finished right behind Rauber after a kick to the finish.
On the Boys Side, CT Junior Aidan Puffer set a new lifetime best with his second place finish of 14:25.82. That time would have been US #1 if it had been set on a Cross Country Course, however the mark will be recorded as an Outdoor Time. The mark would have also won the 2019 New Balance Outdoor Nationals 5K, the last prep Track Race to be run at that distance, then a US #1.
