Tale of the Beast

There's a lot of connections among the Beasts here. Alex Hatz said a meet record of 4:07.47 when he beat Greene's Chad Noelle by 4.50 seconds in 2010. The next year Noelle took what he learned from Hatz and ran very well to beat the 2011 800m champ Zavon Watkins by 1.35 seconds in the 1600m. Meanwhile in 2012 Nick Ryan ran a 4:05.24 in a downpour to set a new state record and beat Watkins by the second most Beastly margin of 2.00 seconds.  Getting back to Hatz, he went on to win the Mile that year at Nationals, so the guys in the background in the pic above shouldn't be too downhearted about their position. The tiny .02 margin was of course Luke Gavigan and Mikey Brannigan in 2014.
