Breakdown: Boys sprinting had never been this good. Emanuel Joseph took down the 55HH State Record, while Andre Leslie took down the 60m State Record. Both were considered favorites for their respective State Titles, before Brandon Smith came in and grabbed both titles from the second seed. In addition, Smith would take down the 55m State Record, and noted he felt he had plenty left in the tank for the hurdles.
What would that have meant for these events Outdoors? The 10.40 record in the 100m is longstanding, and the Hurdle Record even more so. Could Smith have taken both of those down too? Smith will be graduating, and won't get that opportunity, while Leslie and Joseph both return next year, albeit without the push Smith would have given them. A missed opportunity for sure.
