Summary: In a deep field that includes four of Class A's Top 10 teams, one team will be moving on and seeking to be the first S2-A team to win at States since Saratoga in 2012. After topping Shenendehowa by 4 to win at Suburban, Guilderland is a small favorite and is 2nd ranked in Class A. Last year's race was projected as Saratoga the favorite in a virtual tie with Guilderland and Shen 2 points back, and Shen won by 3. This year's virtual score projection does not point to as close a race as in 2018 with:

Guilderland 48, Shenendehowa 69, Shaker 111, Saratoga 117

But again, the score was very close at Suburban, though S2-A will have a slightly different lineup, and the absence of Burnt Hills has little effect for the margin in Guilderland vs. Shen. Key place may well be the Guilderland 5th spot as Shen will again try to close the likely deficit from the top scorers there and hope that other teams can help by packing in a group of runners at the 167-170 mark.

Summary: Burnt Hills has won three state championships in a row and is again the favorite up at Plattsburgh in 2019. The Spartans scored 17 points while breezing to the S2-B title last year, and they are expected to sweep the top six places this year if #2 guy David Metacarpa is back in the lineup. His absence was the difference in a 3rd place behind Guilderland and Shenendehowa at Suburban, but even a continued absence would not be an issue at Sectionals.

Summary: This race is dead even between LaSalle and Fonda-Fultonville, and Ichabod Crane and Greenville are also very much in the picture. LaSalle is the reigning champion and has Gitch Hayes on the lead as one of the favorites at States, so that might give the Cadets the edge.

Summary: Maple Hill was an easy winner last year, but this year Duanesburg has the top ratings due largely to frontrunner Andrew Drescher's big numbers. With the mix of teams in S2-D, however, we're viewing Lake George with a more balanced team as the likely winner because of all the runners who will pack in above the 110 TR mark ahead of Duanesburg's 5th spot.
