Talk about a Time Trial, and you have essentially Matt Rizzo's (Bronxville) race from States. He won the 1000m Title by eight seconds, with no one in sight within 50m after the gun. Not only that, the time he ran was impeccable, shattering the Meet Record by two whole seconds, by himself. His 2:24.06 would have beaten the previous State Record set by Miles Irish (Burnt Hills), set back in 1983, if not for Matt Payamps breaking it here the week before. However, Payamps was in a pro race, with the aid of pacers, meanwhile Rizzo was out there running alone. An impressive effort for the Bronxville senior, that leaves him as US #6 All-Time in the event.
