Girls Class A - Teams
What The Numbers Say: This race is a nightmare to predict. Two teams, with scarce seasonal data, and Sectional Races that were essentially a wash-out. Manlius is the 12-time defending State Champs, but will find themselves to be the underdogs in 2018. Although Saratoga only has four measured races this entire season, their most recent two show great improvement over the first pair. They raced their back end at the Greenwich Invite, showing a steady rise in Speed Rating, then reasserted their National relevance with a strong showing at Sectionals, in less than ideal conditions. They also have a depth through seven that Manlius does not, based on recent outings.
What Can Change: Manlius was also the underdogs at Sectionals, yet they are on the starting line here. The smaller field of only nine teams helps to not inflate their weaker compression, and they have more depth through their 3rd runner. If their 5th runner can have a banner day, we may yet see another tie-breaker. And of course, if Tuohy is running, you can expect to see North Rockland move up the scoring here.
