The 35th annual Warwick Valley vs. Washingtonville Dual meet was again filled with magic from both teams of Boys and Girls today at Warwick Centrals Track & Field complex!!!!
The cold temps could not stop the vaulters....as BIG NUMBERS were recorded all around the pole vault pit.
JENNA MARRIONE BLASTED over a New School Record...her 15th at Warwick Valley with a huge jump over 12' 1", erasing the old school record of 11' 9" by 2003 NY State Champ Meredith Mante! Marrione...joining the vault competition after winning her 3 other events(100 Hurdles/Long Jump/400 relay) she was warmed up for her first meet at 7 lefts and gripping nearly 13' 0" on her Spirit Vault pole...she flew over the record on her 3rd attempt...and then had 1 very close miss at 12' 5.5"!!!!!!! What will happen when the weather gets warm???? Jenna will be competing in the Invitational HS Girls Pole Vault @ The PENN RELAYS on Thursday April 23rd!!!! Team mate Kayla Leahey placed second today after 3 other great events!!!!
Warwick Valley Elite Vaulter...BEN PETERSEN was not to be out done from the early fireworks!!!! The senior vault specialist flew BIG-OVER 14' 7.5" to move up on the Warwick Valley All-Time list to # 5!!!! His jumps were from 7 lefts..with nearly a 15 foot grip...as he takes over the #1 spot on the NY State List for this spring. He took 1 great shot at 15' 1" before retiring for the day.. Trent Messina placed second...Nick White was 3rd and Jordan Moser placed 4th overall!!!
