Williamsville East freshman Kala Allen is one of the biggest talents in the state and maybe the country. The freshman opened everyone's eye's last spring when she ran 55.24 at the State Championships as an 8th grader.
Today at the Section 6 Qualifier, she had one of the magical days.

The final of our Girls 4x400 meter Relay provided all who were there with what was quite possibly the single greatest performance in Section 6 Indoor Track and Field history.
It was the greatest performance I've seen in my time in high school track and field.
Our 160 meter track at Fredonia State requires 2-1/2 laps to complete a 400. No spikes can be used in this event and this track does not allow for the best footing.
Freshmen Kala Allen from Williamsville East (current Fed & D-1 Outdoor 400 meter Champion) took the baton from her teammate essentially one half lap behind the anchor from North Tonawanda (defending Indoor 4x400 meter Relay Champions). Kala caught the NT anchor sprinter just before the line leading her relay to next weekend's State Championships.
So what makes this impressive?
Keep in mind Kala sprinted to a :55.24 FAT in the Fed final last spring enroute to the Championship.
I was standing next to a well respected coach, Kevin Carriero (Lancaster High School), when he turned to me and showed me her split time. His watch read :55.97.
Consider the following. She had already competed in the 4x400 meter Relay trials, the 600 meter Run (which she won), and endured two rounds (trials and finals) of the 300 meter Dash (which she won) BEFORE the final of the 4x400 meter Relay.
It was a legendary performance that will not soon be forgotten by all those in attendance and paying close attention at Steele Hall.
