Boston, MA - It wasn't Sammy Watson's (Rush-Henrietta) first time competing against Professional Athletes, and something tells us it won't be her last. The strong paced race pulled her to a fourth place finish, where her time of 2:03.94 now leads the country. The mark is only about one second off her Outdoor personal best, run last year in the Summer months. Also in the race were NY #9 and NY #10 All-Time Charlene Lipsey and Olicia Williams. Lipsey would go on to win the overall race.
Watson was chasing a plethora of records on Saturday night, and won't go home empty handed. Although she missed both the National and State Record, she now moves up to US #3 All-Time in the event, with plenty of season left to chase. Because the 800m is an "off-distance" Indoors, her next attempt will most likely come at New Balance Indoor Nationals.
