State of the Action: The ebb and flow of a cross country race is what makes them exciting to watch. The team scoring in Class B was unpredictable, as several teams were leading at different points in the race. No doubt, it was Shoreham-Wading River making a statement early, channeling a Manlius' strategy of pushing from the gun. At one mile, they had four girls in the Top 10, with their fifth in the Top 20. But as fatigue began to set in, it was East Aurora's compression that was presenting danger. They had moved up, and showed big numbers in the middle of the field. Shoreham saw, and responded, pushing in the latter stages of the race. Their runners moved back into four in the top ten position, solidifying the win. Behind them, reigning State Champs John Jay, were surging late as well, moving all the way up to second, only 17 points off the win.
