The Trailer: The first weeks of the season changed up the preseason estimates for Class A quite a bit. Fayetteville-Manlius broke the 170 TR average barrier in its first meet at Chittenango to move ahead of a hibernating Ithaca team into the top spot. Three other actions that shook up the order were Baldwinsville's defeat of Liverpool in the Chittenango race 1, Penfield's victory in the Wayne D1 race, and Smithtown's win over Xavier in the Bob Pratt B race. As much as possible we tried to give the preseason selections a chance to ride secure until they got to show their stuff this weekend, but there were a number of cases where we wished to avoid the inquiring messages from coaches whose team came in ten places ahead last weekend of the team ranked ahead of them. To those coaches who have been holding out top runners for a big team effort on September 24, we can say rest assured that if all engines are working properly for you, your team will make a big leap back up in Week 2.
