Results for 2015 Tour de NY-XC Finally Announced

. . . . . . 2: Girls General Classification

Jessica Lawson won the Manhattan and Feds stages last year and came about as close as you can get to a perfect score by giving up just 0.10 in TR with a charge to 2nd place at States. Abbey Wheeler took the McQuaid stage and kept the gaps at States and Feds close enough to finish in the 2nd spot just ahead of Kaitlyn Neal. With a tops in the NXN-NY+FL-NE stage and a 2nd at Manhattan, Neal got the bronze toned singlet. Kelsey Chmiel made up for a late entry into the TdNY-XC stages with top 3 places in all of the November races to finish in 4th. 8th grader Mary Hennelly was solid in all four stages she ran to grab the 5th spot ahead of senior Sage Hurta, whose top results came in the first and last stages. Diana Vizza of Team NS and Katelyn Tuohy and Alex Harris of Team Red Raiders filled out the rest of the top 10.

Members of Team FM were involved in two facets of the distinctive girls GC. First, Claire Walters won a stage with a victory at States but was down the GC list in 14th because she had a weaker final stage but had to use the result because Team FM participated in just three stages. Second, NXN national champ Team FM certainly led the team competition with 6 runners on the list, and they demonstrated their famous packing ability by occupying the 21st-24th spots in the GC with Samantha Levy, Sophie Ryan, Palmer Madsen and Rebecca Walters joining Kaitlyn Neal and Claire Walters.

Two other distinctive features for the girls GC in comparison to the boys was of course the half dozen young runners in the single digit grade classes, as Kelsey Chmiel represented the 9th graders, Mary Hennelly, Katelyn Neal, Claire Walters, and Emily Bini composing the 8th grade corps, and Brooke Rauber did a solo for the 7th graders. Another feature for the girls GC was the high number of runners from small schools, as Sage Hurta, Kaycie Saucier, and Brooke Rauber were from Class D schools, and Sophia Tasselmyer and Julia Stevenson were from schools in the Class C rankings. The iron women crew included Jessica Lawson, Kathryn Munks, and Reilly Siebert who all showed up for the full 5 stage slate.
