The Indoor State Meet Bids Farewell To Cornell In Record Fashion

State of the Action:

The path to a state title can sometimes be a game of give and take.  For Mamaroneck, they had to give up their individual ambitions for the good of the team.  They knew Saratoga was close on paper, and the State Meet can bring out the best of any team.  Mamaroneck took the race out hard, splitting 2:15 for the opening leg.  They soon found company in Fayetteville-Manlius, a team they had not raced before this season, as they do not typically travel.  Manlius kept company through the second and third leg, even taking the lead before the final 200m of leg three.  Mamaroneck Katie Devore knew it was time to dig up the speed.  Devore pushed away from the field, and Saratoga's own stud anchor in Amelia Mahoney, to close in 2:13, and grab the State Title, just off the Meet Record held by Manlius themselves.
