State of the Action: Much like in the boys Long Jump, when the overwhelming top seed doesn't make the finals, the competition is wide open. But Monae Cooper had been in this position before. The reigning State Champion already had a great throw to open her series, then topped it on her second throw with the second furthest of the season, one that has seen many ebbing and flowing in her marks. That mark would sustain her through three fouls in the finals, and Cooper would come away as still the only person in New York State History to ever win a Weight Throw State Title.
