“The Long Road,” a web-video documentary first featured on Armorytrack.com last August has been nominated for a Webby Award.

The Webby Awards, presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, honors excellence on the Internet, websites, online video and film, interactive advertising and mobile websites. “The Long Road,” directed by Glenn Osten Anderson, received its nomination for Student web-video. The Webby Award winners will be announced May 6. The Webby Film & Video Awards are on June 9th in New York City followed by The Webby Awards Gala June 10.

“The Long Road” is a four-episode documentary that followed Ali Bergstom and Daniel Trush. Bergstrom spent more than two years in a wheelchair because of arthritis and a degenerative bone disease but after therapy had regained some mobility and is walking again. Trush suffered from five brain aneurysms and has endured multiple strokes. The documentary follows both members of the Achilles Track Club as they prepared for the 2005 New York City Marathon.

“It is always a great feeling to be honored for your work,” Anderson said. “But I’m even happier that this nomination will help get the project seen by more people that may not know about the challenges and opportunities facing disabled athletes.”
