New York State Meet Doesn't Disappoint As National Powers Collide - Full Meet Recap

Girls Class D Individuals

State of the Action: It's rare for a middle school athlete to maintain her running career for the length of her High School tenure.  For Sage Hurta, who claims her 7th  grade win came out of nowhere, she proved that staying power is possible in the sport by capping off her senior year with another state title.  It wasn't without competition, as Kaycie Saucier held Hurta's feet to the fire the whole race, proving to overtake the lead if Hurta had faltered.  Her second place finish was only seconds ahead of the next 7th grader in the lineup, Brooke Rauber, who had strong closing power.  Margaret Champagne and Hope Pietrocarlo conclude their 6 years of battles at States by rounding out the Top 5.
