State of the Action: It only took 1000m.  That's all it took before Ben Petrella and Aidan Tooker decided the pace wasn't swift enough, and they took off in unison.  This was going to be a dogfight of surging and hill running, to decide the 2015 State Champion.  The pair entered the backhills still in touch, approaching the ascent stride for stride.  But it was something Ben Petrella had trained for.  His lifting program kicked in, and Petrella began to pull away on the most strenuous parts of the course.   The lead increased with every successive hill, and by the time Petrella emerged, with only the finishing plateau's to go, the gap had been established.  In the first race of the day, Ben Petrella flew down the hill, picking up seconds as he went, never letting off the gas.  He would cross the line in 15:43, shattering Noah Affolder's former course record of 16:10, and grabbing the ever elusive individual title, one year after placing runner up. The team points didn't hurt either.  Tooker would roll through to pick up second, still breaking the 16minute mark, while Donny Glavin would close for third, just over.  A lean at the line between Noah Carey and Peter Kane was all that separated 4th and 5th.
