Ted Corbitt Passes Away

One of the most loved and respected people in the sport, Corbitt, a pioneer in ultrarunning and road course measurement, started out as a sprinter in Cincinnati and didn't run his first marathon until he was 32 years old. He wound up running 199 marathons and ultra races during his career. He once held American Records at 50-miles, 100-miles, and 24-hours. He represented the U.S. in the marathon at the 1952 Olympics and was the Founding President of the New York Road Runners.

The Ted Corbitt Award is presented annualy by USATF to the leading male ultrarunner of the year.
