Victor, NY - Sophomore Sammy Watson (Rush-Henrietta) pulled off an impressive double today at her Class AA Sectional Championships. The Indoor National Champ, as well as National Record Holder, won the 400m in a new NY #1 performance of 53.08, over her sister Ceara Watson.

Then, Sammy came back two hours later, to throw down another impressive mark, 2:07.86, for the 800m, which stands as NY #2. The meet was postponed before the 4x400m could be completed, so who knows what kind of split time a fresh Watson will throw down when the meet resumes on Monday.

It was recently announced that Watson would be running the 800m at the Brooks PR Invitational, which would be slightly disappointing, in the regard that it would prevent a National rematch against fellow NY Sophomore Kam McIntosh, who is presumably running at NBON as her team has in the past. Depending which events Watson chooses at the State Meet, however, could provide the match up track fans have been waiting for.
