State of the Action: Things got physical as the gun went off. Everyone in the field knew they would have to get out hard to hold off the pre-race favorites. Kaitlyn Ryan lead a trail of ten runners through the opening laps, Sammy Watson dead in the middle of the pack. But as she had proven at the Armory Track Invite, it was her closing speed people would have to worry about. Closing the last 400m in 67-seconds, after a strong pace through the early laps, Watson was able to drop the field, with a clear shot to the finish. There wasn't much time for celebration, however, as her 300m prelim was the next event on the track. |
