State of the Action: As sometimes happens, all of the action ends up at the Qualifier. Alyssa Sandy was the newcomer. It was her first season over hurdles for Paul Robeson. She faced off against Shayla Broughton, one of the top seeds in the state for the Hurdle title. Across the line, Sandy had won clearly. But it was Broughton, who clipped a hurdle, and failed to make the state meet, that had people shocked. The path won't be easy for Sandy, who enters as the now-favorite for the title. Aviana Goode is right on her heels, and it will take clean hurdles through the rounds to come out with that State Title. Victoria Jones-Alleyne is also in the mix, and will be putting pressure on the top seeds to keep the State Title back in the New Rochelle School District. This should be a good race. |
