Individual Events

Boya 3000m

The Seeded Section of the Boys 3k will look like a Hispanic Games Invitational Mile rematch, as the champion, and Mile US #1, Jeremy Spiezio (Greenwich, NY) will take on Conor Lundy (Fordham Prep), who was the runner up in that race. Around the pair will be a loaded field that includes Viraj Deokar (Middlesex, MA), who owns US #1 8:29.68 3k; Stephen Garrett (Tatnall, DE), who ran US #2 9:19.58 Two Mile in December; as well as the La Salle pack of Jack Salisbury, Matt Bouthilette and David Principe, Jr. Patrick Tucker (Saint Anthony's) and Andrew Marston (Conestoga) both excelled in XC, and the longer distance suits them well. They could come out and snatch victory as well.

Girls 3000m

In the Girls section, watch Julia Guerra (Indian Hills, NJ), who ran 10:44 for 3,200m in the spring. Both she and Margaret Champagne (Seton Catholic, NY) own personal records of 10:06 for 3,000m. Don't sleep on freshman New York State XC champion Katherine Lee (Shoreham-Wading River, NY); she currently ranks US #3, NY #2 10:09.82 3k. Daniella LoCastro (Cold Spring Harbor) and Diana Vizza (North Shore) took a shot at each other once before this season at the North Shore Invite, and will look to push the pace as well. Katrina Patterson (Clarence) has one of the top 1500m season bests in the field, while Emily Digman (Burnt Hills) and Alex DeCicco (Sachem East) are both coming off strong XC seasons.

Boys Mile

In the Boys Seeded Mile, top names to watch are Benito Muniz (Carmel, NY), Matthew Novak (Deep Run, VA) and Randy Neish (Glastonbury, CT). However, Kieran Tuntivate (Charter, DE) is the only one who has sealed up his ticket to the Millrose Games, and looks to be a strong competitor. Ari Klau (William Hall, CT) was a top finisher at Foot Locker Northeast, and will be one to watch from Connecticut.

Girls Mile

On the girls side, Danae Rivers (Wilbur Cross, CT) is the top seed as the 4:47 miler attempts to break five minutes for the first time this season. Beatrice Boylan (Cornwall) looks to be the swiftest competition, based on 1500m personal bests.

Girls Sprints

U.S. leader Brenessa Thompson (Medgar Evers, NY) is one of only two high school girls to break 7 seconds in the 55m this season. She will be the heavy favorite for the track's shortest event, though relay rival Karimah Senior of Paul Robeson, a 7.16 performer this season, will flex her muscles. Medgar Evers teammate Shayla Broughton will be looking to dominate in the hurdles as well.

Boys Sprints

In the boys sprints, Kyle Ellerson (Bergen Catholic, NJ) is the man to beat as he enters the meet with a US #2 6.34 55m this season. Can he beat Noah Lyles' nation-leading mark of 6.32?

Relay Events

Boys DMR

Of course, Yale is a relay meet and so the relay events will be on fire. Day 1 will be highlighted by the Girls & Boys Distance Medley Relay Championships, as the boys race features US #2 La Salle & US #7 St. John the Baptist. However, earlier in the season Fordham Prep had to pull from what would be their qualifying race due to illness. With all legs back and ready to roll, it's easy to see why they may be considered the favorites. Conestoga and Syosset both have stellar anchor legs in Marston and Italiano respectively, and could also be major players.

Girls DMR

In the girls race, Mamaroneck will look to open their season strong, as the top returning relay in the field. They'll face a loaded team from Cardozo, who has made a name for themselves in this event over the past few years. US #8 St. John the Baptist, US #10 Red Bank Catholic will aim to beat US #1 time of 12:23.03. With Danae Rivers on the anchor, don't count out Wilbur Cross, CT either.

Girls Sprint Relays

The Benjamin Cardozo ladies blazed US #1 3:47 4x400m on Wednesday night at the Millrose Trials; they will try to improve on that mark on Saturday night with competition from US #8 Uniondale. The same group will double back in the 4x200m, where they are ranked US #6 this year. However, the field includes US #4 Paul Robeson and US #1 1:39.46 Medgar Evers, who is anchored by the nation's top 55m sprinter in Brenessa Thompson.

Boys Sprint Relays

In the Boys Championship 4x200m, expect US #5 Christ the King (NY) to go after a sub-1:30 clocking.
