1. Abbey Wheeler(11) Elmira 10:15.05 2. Katrina Patterson(10) Clarence 10:29.79 3. Aileen Doyle(12) Sweet Home 10:33.09 4. Jessica Thatcher(12) Elmira 10:33.99
Before taking some well earned time off after a great XC season, Abbey (not ABBY) Wheeler hit the track just a week after NXN and a lot of travel aiming for the 3000m state standard. She looked very strong and relaxed as she calmly hit her splits and powered away to the win, just 5/100ths of a second off her 10:15 seed time. The race behind was very tight, with a group of 3 pacing each other and battling for top spots through the final laps. Nice race from Clarence's Katrina Patterson, earning a 2nd place amongst some established quality distance runners. Wheeler, Patterson, Doyle, and Thatcher now all rank NY & US #1-4 with their respective places.
