Boys C Race - Individuals
The Matchup: It looks to be a two person duel at the top. Sound familiar? Jeremy Spiezio and Kenny Vasbinder are both capable of a 194 rated performance. Both will be trying to lead their team to a Class C title. And both of them weren't racing in Class C a year ago. Spiezio moves up after winning the Class D title last year, while Vasbinder moves down to challenge for his first. It is a toss up for the title. Some Perspective: Last year, Jeriqho Gadway was the State Champion, with a 179-rated performance. That is where he appears to be heading into this years state meet, and yet is not the favorite. Mount Academy has moved up to Class C, bringing frontrunner Keith Baird to the forefront. Dylan Servos can also challenge for that chase pack, leading a group of five guys with little margin of speed. It could be a blanket finish behind the top 2. |

Boys C Race - Team
State of the Action: East Aurora is the favorite here, putting on a strong display at McQuaid, and maintaining dominance throughout. Ironically, Pleasantville is the only team in the position to win the title that was a Class C school the year before. They won the merge at the Section 1 championships, and were the favorites coming into the season before the reclassifications. Mount Academy did very well in the merge at Manhattan, but will have to run above to be competitive here. Greenwich rounds out the top squads, with a very evenly distributed squad. The margin of difference between slot 3-4 is negligible, while the same can be said of spots 1-2. East Aurora still remains the favorite, but an off day can see teams close enough to capitalize. |
