History Being Made in the Present at the Manhattan Invitational

Boys Eastern States Championship

State of the Action: Weini Kelati, still adjusting to the frigid (by her definition) temperatures of North America, shot out from the gun, and never let go of the race.  Utilizing a naturally efficient stride, she cruised to the win.  Behind her, Annika Avery of Fayetteville-Manlius ran close to her mile PR to finish off the race, moving up 10 places, and closing on the leader in the last 1200 of the race.  Before that, Carly Benson of West Genesee was the one chasing Kelati, doing most of the work on the back hills of Van Cortlandt.  Behind her, another freshmen, Abby Green , would close the gap, rounding out the top finishers.
