The Boys varsity rolled to a win with 20 points led by Todd Apgar's first ever win. Apgar led the charge with a 16:48 winning effort, and as he turned around, he saw teammates Pat Porteus and Pat Hashmall follow him in in 2nd and 3rd. Vinny Cascio was 5th in 17:27 while Doug MIlde was 9th in 18:08 and Robert Gorecki 10th right behind him. With John Turro still nursing a soar achilles, the Tuskers look tough early. Their performance earned them a #4 NYS Class A ranking this week.
The boys freshman placed 4th in a strong field. Charles Conway led the way and Issac Shelby and Brian Winters were next. Dave Purpura, Brendan McDonnell, and Matt Dalton rounded out the top 6 with Eddie Furci next in.
The girls freshman placed 2nd as Kaylee Hart led the charge. Crosby Tillman and Claire Rodiger followed her in, all in the top 8. Eve Merenghi and Julia Cavaliere both finished well to round out the scoring five while Kelly Ortler anbd AnneMArie Trapani rounded out the team. It was the first time in school history that 7 freshman finished a race.
Rachel O'Conell led the girls team with 22:10 finishing time in her first race XC race ever. Guilliana Viglione ran a ice PR time of 24:10 while Alyssa Macalusso started her junior season off well just sneaking under 30:00 minutes. The girls also beat John Jay in a dual meet the following Tuesday and lost to Fox Lane by one point, 27-28.
Next up for teh Tuskers is the overnight trip to Rhode Island for the New Balance Ocean State Invitational.
