New York State XC Rankings
Following Week of Saturday, October 20
Note: Last week began the late October prep period for postseason when only a few of the large teams were running full squads if they were running at all. Teams that had run at Manhattan a week before generally saw a drop off in their speed ratings, which is natural, and teams won prep meets comfortably and took TR hits. The view here is that the heavy lifting work for the ratings was done before last week, so there are few changes for the classes except for a few teams joining the list after big leaps in performance. At this point what matters is how well teams are set for sectionals next week. The term "Inactive" is now being replaced by "No scored races" to indicate that teams may have run in local championships that were not TR scored.

Perry's Rationale and Wrapper: | A few of the top teams such as Arlington, Chaminade, and Calhoun won decently competitive prep races for the postseason. St. Anthony's again proved to be the team with the tightest elite pack in a win at Brown University, and Corning and West Genesee had a strong duel at Marathon that lifted the latter into the rankings. Also joining the top 25 was McQuaid with a gigantic leap in TR after a win at Chittenango. Xavier is back in A after a week of confusion about its classification on my part.
Kyle's Comments: | St. Anthony's looked strong in Rhode Island, and boosted them back up to where they found themselves earlier. |

Perry's Rationale and Wrapper: | Not a lot of action going on, though Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons and Tappan Zee got to connect up at Section 1 Coaches in a nice head-to-head battle. Shoreham-Wading River, Honeoye Falls-Lima, Starpoint, and Averill Park all picked up wins to head into the postseason, and Maine-Endwell was the big gainer on the week with a 3rd at Marathon. There are a lot of great intrasectional battles shaping up for Class B.
Kyle's Comments: | Class B is looking like one of the more competitve classes this year, as the packs seem very tight at this point. NDBG looked very good at Bowdoin, and are the favorite. |

Next up: Addison, Dansville, JF Kennedy, Horace Mann, Chenango Forks, Notre Dame-Batavia, Saranac, Dover, Corinth |
Perry's Rationale and Wrapper: | Collegiate ran to about its level in taking a 3rd behind St. Anthony's and Pembroke MA in the Brown University Championship race. The big news though was Fonda-Fultonville's continued drive upward with a 1st at Greenwich which left it in a dead heat with Pawling going into a likely battle for the States C title.
Kyle's Comments: | Senior Matt Hoffman, one our Harriers of the Week, has been having a successful season from the lower class, and has carried his team to the top. |

Perry's Rationale and Wrapper: | Mount Academy had another outstanding race with a 2nd behind only large school Calhoun at Section 1 Coaches. Beaver River also was busy and is right up behind Barker for the 2nd spot in Class D.
Kyle's Comments: | Mount Academy increased their lead average over Barker after a great race on the hills of Bowdoin. |
