After a long, joint effort by many individuals, we are proud to present to you with the New York State Archives. Created to document the amount of talent to come out of New York State throughout history, we hope to compile, maintain, and display all relevant New York State Records, and historical information. This portion of the site is available in large part to Larry Byrne, the unofficial New York State Historian for all things Track and Field. We have decided to dedicate the archives to Larry, for his continued years of service in maintaining records and information. Please take the time to thank Larry, at the following email address, ltbyrne1016@verizon.net. Other notable resources, in particular order, include Bill Meylan, Dan Doherty, Vin Ungaro, Jon Broderick, and many more that have served to shape the running, and records community as we know it. Historical photos included range from those of DyeStat, PhotoRun, and ArmoryTrack where needed, for those were the pioneering sites for Track and Field reporting in their time. All other photos supplied by the MileSplit Network. Below you will find two pieces. The first is Larry's own description of the work he has created, the Blue Book. Below that, you will find my personal dedication to the time we live in, and why it's meant to be preserved. Enjoy! |
