SYRACUSE, N.Y. – For the second consecutive year, Syracuse cross country head coach Chris Fox has been named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Northeast Region's Men's Coach of the Year.
The program has grown into a national powerhouse since Fox assumed the cross country head coaching position in 2005. He recently guided both the men and women's teams to their second consecutive NCAA Northeast Regional Championship. Syracuse was the only Division I institution to win both the men and women's regional title this year. Five members of the men's championship squad earned All-Northeast Region honors for their performance. This feat came just two weeks after the Orange men captured its second BIG EAST Championship in as many years.
The men's team started the season ranked ninth in the nation according to the USTFCCCA, which tied a program-best ranking. The Orange is currently tabbed 10th nationally as it prepares for the NCAA Championship meet. The men will look to improve on a program-best 14th place finish from a year ago as they compete against the nation's best in Terre Haute, Ind. on Monday, Nov. 22.
