PRINCETON, N.J. – Sophomore Heather Stephens shattered the Syracuse record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on day one of the ECAC Championship hosted by Princeton University. The Ridgefield, Conn. native finished third in a time of 10:14.04, beating out the previous record held by junior Rebekah MacKay (10:20.07).

Junior Cassie White also made a statement, as she recorded a sixth-place, season-best time of 10:26.29. Senior Stefanie Slekis (10:40.30) and sophomore Natalie Busby (10:43.91) rounded out the top 20. All four marks were good for NCAA Regional qualification.

On the men's side, senior Curtis Bixler hit NCAA Regional qualifying standards with a 12th-place time of 9:01.70 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Sophomore Tito Medrano earned the fastest time in the 5,000-meter run with a mark of 14:23.31. Third-year veteran Steven Weeks was the next Orange to finish in a season-best time of 14:33.22, while sophomore Corey Robinson placed 26th (14:48.13).

In the longest distance event of the day, freshman Sean Keefe was the first Syracuse harrier to cross the finish line in 31:07.47, while sophomore Ramon Acosta was on his heels, finishing in 31:24.39. First-year runner Robert Molke took 16th with a time of 31:28.93.
