– Junior Jarret Eaton automatically qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championship as he took home the title in the 60m hurdles at the New Balance Invitational in New York on Friday evening. Eaton finished in 7.68, just .02 seconds from the qualifying time of 7.70.

Juniors Flings Owusu-Agyapong and Lareea Chisholm competed in the 60m dash prelims, finishing tenth (7.45) and 42nd (7.75), respectively. On the men's side, senior Michael LeBlanc was the highest Orange finisher in the 60m dash trials with a 10th-place finish (6.82). Senior Antoine Clark and junior Shamel Lewis were among the other Syracuse competitors. Clark finished 21st with a dash of 6.93, while Lewis was three places behind with a time of 6.96.

Meanwhile, several members of the men's and women's track & field team also participated in Syracuse Invitational at Manley Field House. Friday's meet consisted of multi-events, where senior Jon Buice was crowned the heptathlon champion and sophomore Kelsey Rubeor took home the pentathlon title.

Buice was one of three SU participants to place in the top three in the heptathlon. He finished in first-place in three out of four events, including the 55m with an IC4A-qualifying dash of 6.68 and the long jump with an IC4A-qualifying leap of 7.04m. He was also the champion in the high jump (1.94m) for a team-high 2,974 points overall. Junior Nick Damato finished behind Buice with 2,521. While freshman Will Watson (2,517) finished third and fellow newcomer Frank Taylor was seventh with 1,905 points.

The women's pentathlon was all Orange as all three participants were from the host team. Rubeor dominated in four out of five events, including the 55m hurdles, high jump, shot put and long jump and finished with 3,239 points overall. Junior Priscilla Ilarraza and freshman Erica Belanger finished second and third with 2,571 ad 2,563 points, respectively.

The Orange will continue competition at the SU Invite on Saturday, with field events beginning at 10 a.m. and the track competition commencing at 11 a.m.
