SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse senior Christina Dove and graduate student Jeff Scull have been chosen as the 2009-10 BIG EAST Scholar-Athlete institutional award winners. Dove is a member of the women's lacrosse team, while Scull is a veteran on the Orange cross country squad.

Dove has been a member of the Athletic Director's Honor Roll every semester and is a three-time BIG EAST All-Academic Team member. Last season she earned a spot on the ESPN the Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-America At-Large Second Team and was an All-District First Team selection. Dove is studying accounting and finance in the School of Management. She enters her senior season ranked second on Syracuse's all-time leader lists for points (238 points) and goals (181). Last season Dove earned second-team All-America honors for the second consecutive season after leading the team with 59 goals. She earned the BIG EAST co-Midfielder of the Year award and was a unanimous selection to the All-BIG EAST First Team.

A member of the 2009 All-Region team, Scull finished in the top 15 in every race he has competed this season. He was a member of the unranked men's team which placed first against the nation's best at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational and sparked national attention. With Scull's help, the SU men's cross country team captured the program's first BIG EAST and Northeast Region Championships and finished the season ranked ninth nationally, which is the highest ranking in program history. Earlier this season, Scull became a recipient of the NCAA's Elite 88 award, which was presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average at the NCAA Cross Country Championships. Scull graduated Summa Cum Laude in August 2009 with his degree in nutrition and is currently enrolled in the exercise science graduate program. He has been named to the Dean's List and Athletic Director's Honor Roll for six semesters, while also being named Second-Team Academic All-American in 2008 and 2009.

Dove and Scull will each receive postgraduate scholarships as the 2010 BIG EAST Scholar-Athletes.
