Girls Class L
Windsor rolled to its 7th straight Class L title (with an Open win in 2016), though the Warriors got a challenge from Darien, and there was still some uncertainty going into the final 4x400m since a couple of Class winners had their last relay DQed. Windsor's only 1st place came from Shani Smith, the 55H favorite who had just the fifth fastest time in prelims and then was able to blast to the win from an outside lane.
No one was going to seriously challenge Nyasia Dailey in the 55m, Victoria Francis won an exciting duel with Windsor's Brittani Westberry in the 300m, and Westberry was also edged out in another great head-to-head by Kate Demark in the 600m. Double 2021 outdoor Open winner Olivia Birney held off Maloney's Bria Benigni and Wilton's Emily Mrakovcic in the 1000m, and the Green Wave ruled the distance events with Sydney Kelleher taking the 1600m and Madalaine Sweeney getting the 3200m, and they teamed up for the silver on New Milford's 4x800m squad.
Hillhouse picked up comfortable wins in the 4x200m and sprint medley relay. Heavy favorite EO Smith ran a great time in the 4x800m, and Naugatuck ended the night by combining with their guys for a sweep of the Class L 4x400m titles in a very nice time.
Audrey Kozak was top seeded in the high jump but lost out to Meg Barnouw, but she came back for a win in the long jump with a big PR. Grace Stephens finished 2nd in the 55H and then held up the beginning of the boys pole vault action by refusing to bow out before extending her PR by a whopping foot at 10-6. Savannah Soleau missed her own PR in the shot put by just an inch while dominating there as CT's #2 SP'er, again by an inch.
