SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The Syracuse men's cross country team reclaimed the No. 11 spot in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll released Tuesday afternoon after taking home the BIG EAST Championship title for the first time in program history. The men previously reached the No. 11 position in week two following their first-place finish at the Wisconsin Adidas Invite. The women remained at No. 10 for the third straight week. It is the highest ranking both teams have reached in history.
The previously No. 14 men are ranked the highest of any BIG EAST team after beating then No. 10 Georgetown by a narrow six point margin at the BIG EAST Championships. The Orange women are behind No. 2 VIllanova and No. 7 West Virginia, both of which placed ahead of Syracuse at the Championship.
The Orange travels to Boston for the NCAA Northeast Regional on Saturday, Nov. 14.
