Orange Heads to John Reif Memorial

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Orange travels to the home of its Upstate New York neighbor on Friday, Oct. 23 for the John Reif Memorial, hosted by Cornell. The Syracuse men and women we reunite for the first time since the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 3 when the unranked men bested two top 10 teams and the women finished two points shy of first place.
Several Orange runners will make their return to course after last competing at the Colgate Invitational, including seniors Jenna Bieri, Lisa Giacometti, Lynne Mundy, and junior Tricia Wardwell for the women, as well as sophomore Roman Acosta, freshman Jonathan Aziz, junior Brady Becker, freshman Chris Pristouris, sophomore Nick Roertgen, and junior Nathaniel Saviet on the men's side. There will also be three fresh faces, including freshman Ashley Calarco, junior Elizabeth McCarter, and junior Patrick Murray.
Sophomore Carly Hamond and senior Stefanie Slekis will look to lead the way for the No. 10 Orange, the after the team posted a fourth place finish at Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind. Hamond placed fourth overall with a time of 22:01.6, while Slekis (22:31.1) earned the eighth-place spot.
The No. 14 men's team will have 14 entries in Saturday's event, including junior Corey Robinson, and sophomore Zach Rivers, who last competed at the Panorama Invite hosted by University of Virginia. Rivers placed 34th at the Panorama Invitational hosted by UVA, while Robinson finished 52nd.
Also racing on Friday for the Orange are junior Michael Brocks and sophomore Pat Geoghegan. Both ran in the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational, where Brocks placed 60th and Geoghegan finished 63rd.
Next week, the Orange travels to Marquette University to compete in the BIG EAST Championships on Saturday, Oct. 31.
