Recap: We saw potential in this matchup, and it definitely played out. Smith won the race out of the blocks, as his incredible start saw him to the first hurdle way ahead of the field. So much so that he hit the first hurdle, as his steps were off, but it didn't slow him down, passing over Joseph, the State Record Holder. Joseph would come away with the NYSPHSAA Title, but Smith took gold overall, moving to NY #18 All-Time in the event.
