With top seed Simon Jupp not running at the Open, 4th seed Caleb Owen scratching to focus on his 300m win and Wilbur Cross's anchor leg in the 4x200m victory, and Jose Ramirez seeming to concentrate more on Bristol Central's champ 4x800m and 2nd place 4x400m squads, only Talib McBride and Jack Olender remained of the sub 1:24 seeds to battle at the front of the seeded 600m section. Ryan Farrell was really close to 1:24 coming in however, and he roared around the final turn to pass Olender, with McBride coming up for 2nd. Nicholas Sivo running from the unseeded second section knocked almost a second off his PR to edge his Ellington teammate Olender for 3rd, while Chase Flynn took 5th from the unseeded section ahead of Andrew Cote.
