CIAC Class Class Championships Wrap-up

Boys Class M

Team Scores: Tolland 61, Ellington 50, Jonathan Law 47, Weston 41, Stonington 38, Avon 37

Sprints

Law's Rayshon Jacobs was a major factor for his team as got the 55m - 300m double and also anchored the winning 4x200m. Waterford's Jared Lovell plunged his season's best in the 55H down to 7.82 to take the victory there, and Ellington's Jack Olender took the 1600m

Distance

Stonington's Rhys Hammond won the 1000m, Avon's Jack Martin took the 1600m, and Wolcott's Nicholas Bendtsen got the 3200m. But maybe the biggest story in the distance events was that Tolland's Alec Sauter, Nathan Palangeli, and Killian McNamee combined for three 2nds, two 3rds, and 4th in these events which along with another 6th in the 3200m added up to 41 of the team's 61 points for the Class M title. None of the top three Eagles were on Tolland's relay teams, but that's where the remaining 20 points came from in a real team victory. The championship-clinching 19 points for Tolland in the 3200m was high for a boys class meet event, beating out the Bloomfield LJ crew by 2 points.

Field

CT #2 Matt Bigelow of Weston went to 14-6 to win the pole vault, and Masuk's Dylan Torok held up his favored status in the high jump to win at 6-2.  Avon's Max Raha won the long jump and Ellington's Ethan Wilkie took the shot put.

Relays

Each of the top three teams won a relay as Tolland took the 4x800m, Ellington won the 4x400m, and Law got the 4x200m. Stonington won the SMR in a meet record 3:37.90.
