CIAC Class Class Championships Wrap-up

Girls Class M

Team Scores: Weston 76, Hillhouse 39, Tolland 36, St. Joseph 32, Joel Barlow 32, Sheehan 30

Sprints

Bacon Academy's Cleondra White had a big gain in the 55m finals to capture the title, while St. Joseph's Kayla Clark dominated in the 55m hurdles. Joel Barlow's Mariella Schweitzer took the crown in the 300m and Sheehan's Olivia Dubuc won the 600m.

Distance

Weston's Julia Rosenberg won a tight battle with Rocky Hill's Elizabeth Stockman to capture the 1000m as both runners dived below the 3:00 mark. Stockman had a busy day as she topped reigning champ Kathryn Rodrigues of Wolcott in the 1600m and then finished 2nd to Tolland sophomore Peyton Bornstein in the 3200m.

Field

The Class M girls went crazy in the field events as Tolland's Tianna St. Louis set a meet record in the high jump,  Elise Russell put the capper on Weston's big day with an MR in the pole vault, and Hillhouse's Leah Moore got the record in the shot put. East Haven's Kisha Francois did not join the record party, but anytime you win the long jump by a quarter inch as she did over Joel Barlow's 300m champ Mariella Schweitzer, you have to be happy.

Relays

Weston dominated the relays with wins in the 4x200m, 4x400m, and SMR, and the Trojans also picked up a 4rd in the 4x800m. Ellington won the 4x800m.
