The 2019 Glenn D. Loucks Games Preview Blowout

Girls 3200m

Event Info: Friday - 7:35pm

State of the Action

Not only is the Reigning National Record Holder Katelyn Tuohy returning a year later to the race she set that mark in, she is also being pushed to repeat it if she expects to hold off the field.  Most athletes and spectators could go their entire HS and College careers and not see a female crack 10mins in the 3200m, but this race has huge possibility of seeing 3 athletes crack that mark.  That alone would be a National Record, but we're equally excited to see the Millrose Mile matchup that never played out.  Tuohy and Marlee Starliper were set to race there, but Tuohy came down with sickness the week of the race.  Starliper ran away with the win, and continued to clock strong times the rest of indoor, including her seed below at the USATF Senior Indoor Champs.  Kelsey Chmiel has been knocking on the door of sub-10 her entire career, and with a race like this, it's the perfect scenario to break on through to the other side.  Not to be forgotten is her freshman teammate, Ella Kurto, who is shooting for a 10:15.8 or so, to break Chmiel's Frosh State Record.
