NY Alumnus Lauren Harris Qualifies For World Championships

Philadelphia has been kind to New York racewalkers.  Not only does Penn Relays hold one of the premiere invitational fields for the 10k distance, last weekend, Fairmount Park held the USA World Team Race Walking Championships Trials. There, NY's State Record Holder, Lauren Harris (Marist College) took home a new personal best.

Her 49:38 was good enough to take second overall in her race for the 10k Distance.  That qualifies her to once again represent Team USA in an International Walking competition.  Harris has done so many times before, at such events as the Pan-Am Games and the USA vs. Canada Dual Meet.

Harris is the former National Record Holder at both the 1500m and Mile distance, Indoors and Out. Graduating in 2017, she attended Marist College, one of the few opportunities for Racewalkers to compete at Collegiate level.  She still holds the Outdoor National Record for the 1500m walk.
