What Place: 3rd in Emerging Elite 60HH Final
Why: It seemed as if New York's top two hurdlers opted for the EE Section of the race. Both Sophia Myers (State Champ) and Chibugo Obichere (NYSPHSAA Champ) made it to finals with ease. There, it would be a reversal of fortune, as Obichere would take third place overall, over Myers, in the battle of the Empire State.
Obichere's mark of 8.61 was just 0.03seconds off the Junior Class State Record held by Madalayne Smith (Saratoga), set back in 2009. It also puts her at NY #10 All-Time for the event.
